Project Description

Project Description

ROOTED is a salon for Black and Latina women in graphic design, promoting culture, growth and innovation. The most underserved community is women of Black and Latino descent, and although they are the rising majority, they lack representation in the design field. At Rooted, we support our sisters with design knowledge that goes far beyond the confines of Eurocentric formalities. If no space is made for the rich tapestry of local, indigenous, Black and Latino voices, the field of design is left tone-deaf and irrelevant.

A person is using a silver laptop computer. The screen displays a webpage with the title “Sister Social” and three green buttons labeled “Tea Launches,” “Sister Social,” and “Shop.” The webpage also contains text about Black and Latina women’s contributions to society. The person’s hands are positioned on the keyboard as they type. The background is a light-colored surface.

A person walks past a digital billboard displaying a purple image of multiple individuals seated at a table. The text on the billboard reads “Valuing The Future, Honoring The Past.” The billboard is mounted on a metal structure and is situated on a city sidewalk near a street with a crosswalk. Buildings are visible in the background, and a street sign is present to the left of the billboard.
