Project Description

Project Description

Newbie is a mobile companion that supports sojourners as they adjust to living in New York City. It provides guidance in anticipating an international student’s journey so that they can calmly enjoy the new chapter of their life.

The image displays the text "NEWBIE" in large, white, sans-serif font against a solid red background. To the left of the text is a white circle containing a red smiley face with the number "22" inside.

A smartphone with a white frame and black screen displays a red background. The screen shows a white smiley face logo and the word "NEWBIE" in white text. Behind the phone, the word "Connion" is written in white sans-serif font against a red background.

A hand holds a smartphone displaying a map of the Uptown, Downtown, and Subway Map sections of Manhattan. The map is overlaid on a stylized orange outline of the city. The top of the screen shows "TRANSPORTATION" and the time as 9:41. The bottom of the screen shows "Subway Map" and "Subway Entrance" labels. The background is blurred, showing a city street scene.

Four screenshots from the Newbie app are displayed on a blue background. The leftmost screenshot shows a red header with the app name “NEWBIE” and a prompt “Let’s begin, Sandra!” The center screenshot displays “Get F-1 Visa,” with options for I-20 form, tax photo, complete application, and pay-1-901 fee. The rightmost screenshot shows “NYC SURVIVAL BASICS” with icons for subway, bus, ferry, bike, cab, and car-sharing.

A grid of nine illustrations on a yellow-orange background. Each image is labeled with a number and a Newbie logo. The illustrations depict various New York City subway-related items: a turnstile, a subway map, a subway entrance, a subway guide, a subway card reader, a subway map with directional arrows, a subway map with lines, a subway map with station names, and a subway map with station names and a directional arrow.

A red folder with a white label displaying "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement" and "U.S. ID: N0004720633" is positioned on a red background. Inside the folder are stickers with “NEW” and “STUDENT” designs. A red leather-bound notebook with a white “23” logo and a white card reading “New SIM for new life” with a phone number are also present.

A young man with short dark hair and round glasses wears a black shirt against a red background. The word “NEWBIE” is displayed in large, off-white letters behind him.
