Project Description

Project Description

FLOURISH is a design talent collective with a mission to increase cultural representation and inclusivity in design and typography. We help businesses honor and champion cultural authenticity to meet multicultural audiences wherever they are, whatever they speak.

The image presents a page from a document or book focusing on the history and background of Arabic script. The page is divided into two sections. On the left, there's a section titled "History and Background" which includes an introductory paragraph about Arabic script's origins and characteristics. On the right, there's a checklist titled "Checklist 1 - Basics" which outlines key aspects of Arabic alphabet fundamentals, including the number of letters and basic forms. The checklist is visually separated from the text and includes numbered points and brief descriptions for each item. A diagram illustrating the Rhombic dot construction is included on the left side of the page.

A presentation slide titled “A Lexicon of Multiscriptual Typography” is displayed on a dark screen. The TEDx Flourish logo is visible in the bottom right corner. The slide features geometric shapes and text in white and orange. A stage with blue lighting and audience members is visible below the screen.

Saud Alowaifi, a New York-based artist, is featured in a collage of three books displayed against a white background. The leftmost book is gold with Arabic text, the middle book is teal with Arabic script, and the rightmost book is black with white Arabic text. The artist’s name, “Saud Alowaifi,” and location, “New York, US,” are printed below. Below the collage, a small circular profile picture shows Alowaifi wearing a dark jacket. The word “AVAILABLE” is displayed in green text at the bottom.
