I chose to design a book based on “The atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki”. I designed a double-sided book, which means that the viewers can flip from either cover. The concept behind this double-sided book is inspired by traditional Japanese books which tends to open from the right side. My book is divided into two sections: American’s perspective and Japanese’s perspective. In American’s perspective section, I included some historical information like the reason why they decided to drop the bombs, the project, and Truman’s thoughts. In Japanese’s perspective section, I included some survivors’ interviews. I intentionally did not put any page number into my book, so the viewers have full freedom on the ways they choose to look at the book. All resources used are from online sources. The survivors’ photographs and information are all from TIME—SURVIVORS OF THE ATOMIC BLASTS IN HIROSHIMA AND NAGASAKI SHARE THEIR STORIES.
