A painting of what looks like man made structures in the side of some rocks covered in green plants.

Yesterday we had a guided tour of the Imperial and Roman Forums led by Archaeologist Dr. Darius Arya. Through his narrative it became easier to visualize the magnificent scale of the structures in their original form. The Arch of Titus is a highlight. It was interesting to distinguish the original portions from those that have been restored in the 19th century. We walked the Palace area, usually closed to visitors, and saw original intact coffered ceilings in one of the rooms. Though less monumental, the Forum is still captivating in its decay. This sketch is an area on the outskirts of the palace that caught my attention, where vegetation has overtaken the eroded walls (I chose not to include the metal handrail at the top).
