Our preeminent scribe and historian of epigraphy, Doctore Mauro Zennaro, lectured during his first of two classes today. Its hard to cover 2000 years of writing and letter forms in 2 hours, but he did that and then led a rubbing mission to Ara Pacis (he first architectural space to be created in the historical center of Rome since the end of the Fascist era).
The workshop participants learned about the origins of letters, punctuation and media (did you know it took an entire sheep to make a page of parchment?) and why architects make "lazy" graphic designers.
Zennaro returns on Thursday for his annual Biblioteca Angelica exploration.
