The artists, Thomas Huber and Wolfgang Aichner are experienced mountaineers and they have set off to drag a self-made boat over the Alps for the next 4 -5 weeks. They hope to end up launching the boat in the Venice lagoon at the Art Biennale, and will either celebrate the victory of art over nature in a triumphal journey up the Canale Grande or fail dramatically. A series of photographs will be generated as well as a video work, which will be presented with the boat.
This work is a reference to Werner Herzog's classic film 'Fitzcarraldo.'
