Meet The First Year Students: Jiaying Mao

Date

By Nigel Sielegar

Each year at the start of the first semester we ask our new students to say a few words about one or more favorite projects.
Designer: Jiaying Mao
Image one: My undergraduate major is product design, as a music lover, in this project I designed an electro visual string instrument which is portable and versatile.
Image two: Course work of logo design. My version of 12 constellations, the inspiration is from the image of occult and myth.
Image three: The lyric card I designed from several medieval-folk songs I loved, inspiration derives from the magical “Book of Kells” and the works of Mucha.

A set of three artistic drawings depicting women singing or doing other stuff. Under the drawing there are tree text articles surrounded by fancy borders.

A set of two images, one blue with 12 white icons representing the signs of the zodiac or the constellations. The other image represents a drawing of four different women, probably related to the constellation.

An image of a product design for a compact musical instrument made from wood and metal.

An image representing a design for a cigar shaped instrument that can replace multiple classical instruments.
