Lita's Rome Diary: VII

Lita's Rome Diary: VII

Date

By Nigel Sielegar

We've been in Rome for almost one week and these are the high points that I want to share:

-The ornaments carved on Corinthian column capitals are based on the acanthus plant (really a weed) that grows throughout the forum.

-If you look closely you can see see fragments of marble throughout the Imperial forum.

-Darius Arya, archeologist, and Steve Heller, design historian, are two of the best guides when touring the Forum.

-Wayfinding at the Forum

-If you're lucky enough to get permission to stand at the base of the Trajan Column ( (which we did) ) you'll see the most perfect Roman lettering ever inscribed.
