Class of 2017: Zenzile Sky Lark

Class of 2017: Zenzile Sky Lark

Date

By Nigel Sielegar

Each year we ask incoming MFAD students to reveal their favorite work. Today we meet:
Zenzile Sky Lark, Richmond, Va.
Zenzile Sky Lark comes to MFAD with a strong emphasis in design and photography. Born in Brooklyn, NY & raised in Charlottesville, VA, she has grown up "in the likes of both country and city environments which has fueled her creativity and curiosity in the applied arts," she says.
Zenzile graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Graphic Design in 2012 and has six years of professional experience in designing interactive and print material for the culinary, fashion, STEM, pharmaceutical, and industrial arts industries. For the past three years she has designed for Pharma companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Janssen Supply Chain..
She says that she "lives life through immense floods of color and abnormal form while submersing herself in positive sensations through music (primarily acid jazz), visual stimulation and by enjoying the perks of everyday life." She loves learning new technological techniques, networking, photographic documentation, culinary arts, the sound of wind, floral loose teas, travel, spending time at the ocean, fashion and collecting interesting nic-knacks along her way. "Color is important, the options must not be ignored."
